On some trash hauls along the Sound, my daughter and I saw many dead fish... Atlantic Menhaden, or "bunker" could be seen lying along the shore at every site...
Connecticut DEEP states that fish kills involving this species are not uncommon and that this one could have been due to "missed migration cue, leading them to succumb to the cold water temperatures and a lack of nourishment..."
Sad to see, whatever the cause…
