About Jeanette Compton

Jeanette Compton is an artist and educator whose stark pen and ink compositions focus on natural objects such as nests, branches, bark, fungi and other materials whose texture and form catch her attention. She strives to convey a respect and admiration for the natural world, especially in its sometimes unnoticed details.

Jeanette's work has been shown throughout the region in group exhibitions such as "Environmental Food Chain", RE:ARTISTE International Art Organization at Gallery MC, New York, NY, and "Seeing Nature Through Art” at the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History, where she is a guest instructor.  Solo efforts include "The Nature of New Haven" at Ives Gallery, New Haven and "Empty Nests" at the Woodbridge Town Library.

Her artwork has been featured in Connecticut Woodland Magazine and SCSU's Alumni Magazine.

Jeanette holds a BS in Biology and an MS in Environmental Education from SCSU.  She is a member of the Hamden Art League, the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators and its New England chapter, The New Haven Paint and Clay Club and Connecticut Women Artists.
